This year saw a record number of entries received for the SA Pub Burger Challenge, now in its fifth year. From these entries twelve finalists were chosen to compete in the SA Pub Burger Challenge Final that was held at the SA Hotel and Restaurant Show. The judges sat through several mouth-watering and tantalising burgers over fourt heats, but at the end of the day it was the Hackney Hotel's Wagyu Burger that took home the grand prize.The judging panel included the Lifestyle Editor of The Advertiser Jim Plouffe, hotelier and restauranter Margie Gregg, FIVEaa's Tim Ginever and Phil Rankine from Channel 9's The Block All Stars.

The Hackney's Burger was created by chef Michelle Dottore and comprised of two 100 gram wagyu beef patties, pickles, double cheddar, mixed leaves, tomato, American mustard and tomato relish aioli.
