Gambling Code of Practice Summary Approved

Clause 45A(4) of the Gambling Codes of Practice requires that a gaming provider provide a copy of the Code (or a summary document approved in writing by the Authority) to any person who requests it.  Failure to provide the current version of the Code to CBS Inspectors on request can often result in an expiation notice being issued.

To reduce red tape and make it easier for licensees to comply with the Code, Gaming Care (as part of a joint initiative with Club Safe) submitted a summary document to the Authority for approval.  The summary includes simplified information on what Licensees and Gaming Staff are required to do as part of their obligations under the Code.  This summary document was approved in writing by the Authority on 23 May 2017.

The summary document may be substituted for the Code of Practice in your Responsible Gambling Document, and may be provided to any person who requests it in place of the Code.  A link to the full Code is included in the summary document should you require detailed information regarding your obligations under the Code.

You may download the summary document below.

If you have any questions regarding the summary please contact your Gaming Care Officer, or our office on 8100 2499.

New Gaming Self-Assessment Compliance Checklist

This self-assessment compliance audit checklist has been developed by Consumer and Business Services (CBS) to assist licensees in assessing the level of compliance with legislation, regulations, licence conditions and codes of practice for gaming and wagering.

Where the self-assessment checklist makes reference to policies and procedures, venues with Responsible Gambling Agreements in place may refer to their Responsible Gambling Document for compliance with these matters.

The Gambling Codes of Practice Notice 2013 (Codes) makes reference to a “peak body”. For the purposes of this reference and in relation to clause 10B(1)(a) of the Gaming Machines Act 1992, the Independent Gambling Authority has approved Gaming Care and Club Safe as Recognised Industry Bodies. Licensees that have a Responsible Gambling Agreement with either of these bodies are exempt from certain clauses of the Codes.

You can download the checklist direct from the CBS website here: http://www.cbs.sa.gov.au/assets/files/Gaming_SelfAssessment_Intro&Checklist_Final.pdf
